Presley Christine Miller was born September 7th 2023 at 10:39 pm Eight weeks early, 60 hours of labor, three epidurals and an emergency C-section later our beautiful princess Presley made her debut in the most memorable way it changed our lives forever. My beautiful babygirls very first breath after being delivered was unfortunately what almost took her life and ultimately from us. I heard her for the first time as I laid there waiting to meet her scared and nervous because she was way too early. I finally heard a gasp followed with silence, she wasn’t crying because she wasn’t breathing we learned very quickly that something was seriously wrong. Presley was born with MAS (meconium aspersion syndrome) when she took that first breath she ingested her own bowel movement. Causing her to go into cardiac arrest and respiratory failure right out the womb. By 10:52 pm die to life saving efforts her heart beat was restored while manually assisted breathing took place until she was placed on a ventilator. Four hours later waking up out of surgery very confused and barely coherent trying to understand where my daughter is and what is going on, the doctor comes in to tell the both of us that she is extremely sick and she a way as being transported to Radys children hospital in San Diego to be placed on a high oscillating ventilator at a level 4 NICU where they can support her better and help us try and figure out why this is happening while taking the necessary steps towards saving her little life. She had a 25% chance of making it through this considering her lungs were underdeveloped since she was only 32 weeks when born. MAS cause my beautiful baby girl to have pulmonary hypertension, respiratory distress syndrome, infection in her lungs, as well as pneumonia. Presley was immediately intubated and stayed that way for the first 3 weeks of her life cause she cldnt breath in her own her lungs just weren’t strong enough to do it in her own. She was poked and prodded for multiple IV and Artery lines, as well as her pic line where they administered her with a paralytic, sedatives, and pain medication. Our world has totally been turned upside down and all we can do is be there for her while she fights for her life, not being able to touch her, hold her, comfort or sooth her leaving us feeling helpless every time we had to drive back and forth from lake Elsinore where we live to San Diego where are daughter is became extremely stressful. My husband who was still trying to go back and forth to work still as well as balance and maintain our lives as much as possible had spread himself out way to thin and was involved in a car accident coming home from work wich totaled his car literally the day before Ronald McDonald charities accepted our referral and our daughters case and has allowed us to be right here across the street from her as she fights to get better as each day passes. My husband is now no longer working and doesn’t qualify for paid family leave through his job and was also denied disability from social security department. We are fortunate enough to know his job is holding his position for him until he’s ready to come back once our daughter can come home. We’re very fortunate for that since we are currently still here and it’s November 6th. We have depleted and exhausted everything in our savings account for our rent and utilities that money we saved for Presley for everything she would have needed if this had went the way it was supposed to too. So now we are currently left with no money with no way of paying our bills for the following months we’re going to be here at the hospital. On top of the basic necessities Miss Princess Presley definitely needs. We are asking for donations to help us keep our apartment we currently still have, as well as the things we need for our daughter once she is finally home with us as well as a vehicle to get my husband to and from work and the hospital so that we don’t loose our and still be able to be here for me as well as Presley as she slowly gets better. She has had such a rough start but has also made so much progress since then we’ve been here for about 7 weeks and they still can’t tell us when she’ll be healthy enough to come home, so until then my family and I are here trying to make the best out of a very sad situation and still figure out how to navigate this scary NICU experience so please any donation as well as a share is very much appreciated and thank you for taking the time to read my beautiful baby girl Presley Christine Miller. !
