Prince’s Surgery for Hip Dysplasia

Donation protected
Hi everyone! You must be familiar with my big boy Prince if I’ve flooded my social media with his cuteness. He is almost 2 years old. In December I started to notice a slight limp. I also notice when he gets picked up or touched a certain way he lets out a long cry-like meow and hiss. I took him to his vet and had some X-rays done. She referred us to a specialist, who explained the issue. Prince has hip dysplasia. It’s the most common disease in Maine Coons. It mainly effects dogs, overweight cats, or big cats in general, like this breed. He needs a surgery called femoral head and neck ostectomy (FHO). Unfortunately both his hips are affected and he needs to have that surgery on both sides. Or order to cut back on the costs, we would like to have everything done in one surgery.
If Prince does not have this surgery he will develop arthritis, lose muscle mass on his hips and back legs, and may be living in pain for the rest of his life.
So far he only limps, has occasional pain, and is not able to jump up on his cat tree the way he used to.
After a lot of searching and calling around we were able to find a surgeon who will do it for 2.5k, which is half the price of the original clinic we went to
Any donations helps, no matter the amount. We will be forever greatful.
Help this gentle giant go back to his normal. Thank you ❤️
