Prince’s Medical and Funeral Expenses
On the evening of July 1st 2021, Prince Okyere went for a swim at his apartment swimming pool. After struggling for his life, he unfortunately drowned and was found at 9 feet, 7 minutes later by fellow apartment residents. After performing CPR, he was transported by ambulance to Lutheran Hospital. He was admitted to the ICU and was found to have suffered severe brain damage from swelling in his brain. Within 24 hours, he was transferred to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Children’s Hospital where he was placed on life support and extensive medications. After 7 days of unresponsiveness and unremarkable testing for possible brain activity, he was taken off life support and was pronounced dead on July 8, 2021.
Prince was a friendly, kind and lovable teen who was full of life. He enjoyed playing basketball and spending time with his friends and family. He and his family moved to the United States from Ghana in February 2020 in hopes of a better life. You could always count on Prince to have a smile on his face and lend a helping hand. He was especially helpful to his youngest brother Kenneth, who has cerebral palsy. Prince was loved dearly by all who knew him and he will be sincerely missed.
Please help support the Okyere Family with the funeral and medical expenses of this sudden death. Given the family’s recent move to the United States during the Coronavirus Pandemic, it will be nearly impossible for them to cover the expenses on their own. Donations of any amount would be greatly appreciated to help the Okyere family through this difficult time.
