Help Us Save Our Puppy, Harry
Donation protected
Hi everyone! We’re the Bell Family from New Hamburg, ON, and we're asking for your help in saving our brand new addition to the family, Harry. We are heartbroken and doing everything we can to save our little pup’s life after he contracted a severe case of leptospirosis, a potentially fatal bacterial infection, likely from playing in puddles during a walk in the rain.
Just days after Harry turned 3 months old, he suddenly stopped eating and drinking. After multiple trips to our local vet, we got the devastating news: Harry needed immediate hospitalization and 24/7 care. The only emergency vet hospital with space for him was in Oakville, ON—about 1.5 hours from home. Harry has been in the ICU at MOVEH since Wednesday, October 16th, fighting bravely through every step.
Leptospirosis attacks the kidneys, and small dogs like Harry have only a 50% chance of survival. Even with the best care, surviving this infection often means long-term or permanent kidney damage, requiring ongoing treatment and management for the rest of his life. While this past week has been full of ups and downs, we’ve seen some hopeful signs—his latest bloodwork shows that his kidney function is beginning to recover. Right now, Harry is still on a nasogastric tube for feeding, and his catheter is helping manage his urine output, which has been nearly 10 times the normal amount. Though things are improving, we know he still has a long way to go before we can bring him home.
The emotional rollercoaster has been overwhelming, and the mounting medical bills for his intensive care are more than we can manage alone. We are humbly asking for your help—whether through a donation or by sharing Harry’s story. Every bit of support means the world to us.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,
The Bell Family
