Hi!, since september we (Harm & Sebas) have been observing and teaching at a primary and secondary school in Blantyre, Malawi.
The primary school teaches about 7,000 learners, with 100-200 children per classroom.
Flushing toilets are already being built! But the school is in dire need of basic supplies.
In school there is a big lack of supplies, that we would like to give them:
- Chalk
- Paint (for classroom walls)
- Pens & Pencils for teachers
- Chalkboard erasers
- Classroom-shared pencil erasers
- Tape + A2&A3 paper (for lesson-tools and posters)
- Permanent markers for teachers
- Doors (for about 4 classrooms, that have broken/no doors)
The special-needs classroom (with about 40 kids) has children with disabilities ranging from blindness/deafness to severe autism, down-syndrome, brain damage or mobility issues, all in the same class. This class is in great need of tools te help educate kids in basic reading, writing or communication skills:
- Noise-cancelling construction headphones
- Paper A4
- Tactile reading materials
- Braille and Audio materials
- Tools for fine-motor-skills (pens, grips)
These lists come from the teachers within the school. These items could improve the quality of education, even by a small amount.
If we reach our goal, most of these supplies will be bought by us and given to the school. Any money that we raise above our goal will be spent on second-hand children's books, or be given to the school management directly.
If you have even €5 to spare, we will greatly appreciate it! You will make a very tangible impact for these learners, and teachers.
Much love and all the best,
Harm & Sebas
