My sister (Samantha Stahl - maiden name Ruoff,) is in need of a new liver and there is urgency with this matter. Her name is Sam and she means so much to family and friends.. we are all assisting with this complicated journey and we hope you will join us and share with others.
I am determined to assist in fundraising efforts for her medical expenses. As you all know.. they can become quite expensive.
I have listed her story below..
Sam is in need of a liver transplant.. She has an autoimmune cirrhosis called Primary Biliary Cirrhosis (PBC) and was diagnosed 7 years ago, just two weeks before her wedding.
It is unknown what causes PBC, but it is the result of her own body attacking her liver. PBC is NOT caused by abuse of alcohol and it is NOT contagious. She is now in stage 4 of 4 and a transplant is the only option. She has gone through extensive medical tests and working closely with a hospital in Colorado. She has made the transplant list and now waiting on a donor. They are currently looking at a live donor of which 2/3 of the donors liver will be used. It will take 4 to 5 months for the liver to regenerate itself for both the donor and Sam after the surgery is complete.
With all of that said... there are huge medical expenses for both Sam and her husband and the donor that is selected for this procedure. I would appreciate very much if you would share this with as many as you can.
