Priceless Cargo - Help Me Repair Their School Bus

Hi, my name is Gavin Duffy. On September 24, 2022 I went on a mission trip with my church through the Beautiful Feet organization to Nicaragua. The Beautiful Feet organization is led by Ryan Jasper. On a surfing trip to Nicaragua in 2009 he was asked if he'd ever been to "The Dump" in Christo Rey, a poverty stricken town. He saw the children and people of the town digging through the trash barefoot. This trash was filled with broken glass, medical waste, and so many other harmful things. They then would sell or use whatever they would find in the garbage to survive. Ryan and a friend took it upon themselves to help them. He reached out to different shoe companies, telling them about his experience, asking if they would donate shoes so the people would at least not be injured while working. He got partnerships with the companies and Beautiful Feet blossomed and began to do much more than just give sandals to the people of Christo Rey. For example, sending the children to receive a education and bringing mission groups to the town to serve in many ways. This is where my experience comes into play. On this trip I saw and felt the same things Ryan would talk about. I saw the kid's and adult's dangerous work and living conditions. Despite this, they have the biggest smiles talking to us and they are passionate about Jesus and his story. Seeing these people who have nothing physically yet have so much spiritually gave me a view of how good we have it in the States. We learned that Beautiful Feet, while paying for their education, also takes these kids to and from school each day. The bus that they use for the kid's school and all mission trip groups broke down and they have not had the funds to repair it. As seen in the picture, the children are riding in an open bed truck to and from school. Buses in Nicaragua are like gold and expensive to repair. So I wanted to start this fundraiser with the help of you all to fund the bus repair and hopefully exceed the limit. Money raised will go to a new engine for the bus. Our church will be returning in the spring to do a VBS camp with the children in Christo Rey. We will also be using that bus if repaired by then. God has used these people to have a lasting effect on me and my perspective. I hope this story has a similar effect on you.
