UPDATE: Thank you for the outpouring of love and generosity as we reached our fundraising goal. Mitch and Ali are incredibly grateful. As Mitch's treatment progresses, it has become clear that he will likely need to take more of an extended leave from work than originally hoped, in addition to finding accommodations in Boston for 1-2 months after discharge. This will result in fairly significant extra expenses over and above medical expenses. As a result, we have increased the fundraising goal in order to allow Mitch and Ali to focus on recovery. Mitch Price was diagnosed with Leukemia in early June 2021 at Mass General Hospital in Boston. The medical team at MGH immediately set forth a treatment plan including inpatient chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. Mitch was admitted on June 14th at Mass General Hospital in Boston and has been receiving chemotherapy. The expectation is he will be in the hospital for 5 weeks and be able to come home for a brief period before returning for more chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. Mitch's team is looking for a donor match and has said there is a 75% chance they will find a full match. Though it's unlikely any of you will be a match, we encourage people to consider joining the registry to become a bone marrow donor for someone in the future (https://bethematch.org/).
Mitch, Ali, and the kids live in Portland, ME. Ali is traveling to Boston regularly to visit Mitch while he is in the hospital. Annabelle and Lex are able to communicate regularly with Mitch via FaceTime, and have a great support system of family and friends nearby. Following the bone marrow transplant, Mitch will need to remain in Boston for at least one month, but will not need to be in the hospital. Funds will be used to cover travel and housing expenses so Ali and Mitch can focus on their health and wellbeing during this time.
