Prevost Family Farmhouse Fire
Donation protected
As many members of the Forum know, there was a devastating fire late Tuesday afternoon that totally consumed the Prevost family farmhouse on Phelps Rd. The barn which houses some psycho barn cats as well as material possessions, was left unscathed somehow. When I first got wind of what was going on, I was out of my mind thinking the worst, as were many others. Thanks to God, or to whatever you believe in, no one was home at the time. There was an effort by their neighbor to put it out, but he couldn't get anywhere near the blaze. The house was built in 1870 on land that has been in the family since 1783, the Edward's Homestead. Needless to say, the family is very despondent, but they realize it could have been much, much worse. If you know Mr. P, or Rob, you know they are not the type to ask for handouts, charity, etc. That being said, they gave me the go ahead to put up this post, grudgingly though. They surely could use some support from the tight knit Suffield/W. Suffield community. Was the house insured, yes. Will they be able to rebuild someday, most likely. Do they need clothes, food, sundries, yes. Please send any mail to the Homewood suites in Windsor Locks on route 75 addressed to Robert Prevost. The same goes for any physical drop-offs, leave them at the front desk. I will be posting an email address here as well as some other online options soon. They told me to thank you from the bottom of their hearts in their time of need. They will get though this. Gift card ideas - Stop and Shop, Walmart, Ocean State, Amazon other similar stores. Thanks everyone. Feel free to share.
