Pre-Vet Internship to Costa Rica
Hi this is Hannah! I am trying to raise money for a Pre-Vet internship opportunity in Costa Rica that I was just accepted into.
Growing up, I have always had a deep connection with animals and have wanted to be a veterinarian since I was 5 years old. I have tried to take advantage of every opportunity I could to be around animals. This includes being a part of 4H, NYS High school rodeo association, as well as participating in the youth extreme mustang makeover in 2014. My family and friends would say I either spend all my free time with my horses and corgi or studying to help my dream of going to Veterinary school come true. I also took advantage of taking college classes throughout high school to better prepare myself for my undergraduate program. I have definitely had challenges with trying to find places to work and gain hands-on experience as well as taking a course load heavily focused on biology and chemistry. Despite these challenges I haven’t stopped finding ways to stay on track for this career path.
As some people may know Veterinary school is very competitive. There are only 32 schools in the whole United States and the acceptance rate is only 10-15%. Having experience in large, small, and exotic animal care as well as making yourself stand out from other applicants is important when applying. As a Junior in a pre-vet program, I decided to try to seek a unique opportunity. Wild Sun Rescue would give me the opportunity to work with wildlife such as monkeys, anteaters, armadillos, birds, and more! I would also get to work with vets in surgeries, emergency procedures, and possibly carry out a nutrition related research study. This ultimately would be a once in a lifetime educational experience that would help me become a better veterinarian. Any donations are greatly appreciated and would go towards paying for the internship cost which includes housing, food, and transportation. I have attached a link below if anyone is interested in seeing more about what I would be doing. https://www.wildsunrescue.org/prevet-veterinarian-experience
