Hello, my name is Jessica. I am 62 years old, single, and a lifelong teacher.
I’ve lived with diabetes for 26 years, and now it is threatening my sight. I am beginning to lose my vision due to severe eye hemorrhages. Without urgent surgery, the hemorrhages will detach my retinas, leaving me permanently blind.
Unfortunately, this surgery is not covered by insurance and must be done overseas. On top of the surgery itself, I must also cover the cost of travel for two people, accommodations, food, taxis, and medications.
I have no family nearby to lean on, so I am turning to the kindness of others for help. Teaching has always been my passion and my way of giving back, and now I find myself needing support to save something most of us take for granted…my sight.
Any donation, no matter how small, will help me move closer to surgery and to the hope of continuing to see the world, my students, and the faces of those I love. Even if you are unable to give, sharing this fundraiser would mean so much.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your generosity and support.
