Preston Sherman was diagnosed with a hereditary disease called polycystic kidney disease when he was 20 years old. Over time, clusters of cysts develop over the kidneys eventually causing the kidneys to lose their ability to function. The end result is dialysis and/or transplant. Preston has been blessed with a perfect donor match from his sister. He will require two surgeries, the first on February 14 to remove a kidney and make room for the transplanted kidney. The second surgery, the transplant, will be on March 7. Preston may need dialysis between the two surgeries, depending on his lab values.
Preston is self-employed and unable to work for up to three months. His wife, Tammy, will take leave to care for him during his recovery period.
A benefit (silent auction, spaghetti dinner and bake sale) to defray medical expenses and lost wages will be held on Saturday, February 11, at the Bismarck Eagles (313 N 26th Street, Bismarck) from 4-8pm. If you are unable to attend and would like to donate, a benefit account has been set up at Starion Bank under Preston Sherman Benefit Account. A GoFundMe has also been created for those who prefer to use that.
Preston, Tammy and family appreciate all your prayers! "Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved, for You are my praise." Jeremiah 17:14
