Raising Hope & Funds; Rallying for Presley

Update 1-2-24:
We wanted to provide an update and send a huge thank you for all the prayers and donations for Presley.

A few days ago, Presley was discharged from Pediatric ICU (thankfully, sooner than expected) and transferred to a children’s rehabilitation center for physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, etc. Today, again sooner than expected, Presley was discharged from the rehab center and is on her way home.

Her medical team is still waiting on a diagnosis from Michigan’s Mayo Clinic and a Research Hospital in Denver, CO.

We ask that you continue praying for her full recovery. Thank you!

Original Post:
Our dear friends, Lezette and Glenn are facing an unexpected and challenging situation. Their precious 11-year-old daughter, Presley, is currently in the ICU at CHOC Mission Hospital. It all unfolded on Thursday, December 21, in the early morning hours when she experienced a seizure, prompting an urgent rush to the hospital.

The initial CT scan showed no alarming signs. However, Presley was diagnosed with Autoimmune Encephalitis after an MRI revealed severe inflammation on the surface and deep in the cortex of her brain. This caused the seizure followed by lapses of consciousness and the loss of communication and mobility. Her medical team is waiting on results from her spinal tap from Michigan’s Mayo Clinic and a Children’s Research Hospital in Denver, Co.

After her MRI readings, the doctors adjusted her treatment with a different antibiotic and introduced an IV platelet procedure known to significantly aid patients experiencing brain inflammation. Additionally, a feeding tube has been inserted to ensure she receives complete and essential nutrients promoting a more robust recovery.

We all know the last thing the Mendoza’s would do is ask for financial assistance, this GoFundMe campaign will help alleviate some of the financial burden that comes with unexpected medical expenses.

Lezette, Glenn, and Jonavan, are immensely grateful for the outpouring of prayers and support that surrounds them during this challenging time. No donation is too small, and every contribution is deeply appreciated. Please feel free to share this campaign.
