UPDATE 8/27: Presley and Silvia have made it to Oklahoma and they’re still going! Please continue to share!
UPDATE: Presley’s transport is underway! Our dear Silvia is traveling solo with Presley! Unfortunately Presley’s person selective nature made made it a challenge to take someone else along. That being said, Presley and Silvia have been doing great and have made it to Arizona. Silvia shared that Presley has been a perfect gentleman, and enjoyed his hotel stay where he had his very own bed. Please keep sharing this and if you can donate, please consider donating to Silvia and Presley as they make their way to North Carolina! We appreciate you all! Go Team Presley!
Presley goes on a road trip and needs your help!
Well the humans transporting him do!
The big fluffy cloud has been pulled by Santa Paula Animal Rescue Center (SPARC), but isn't at his final destination yet. He still needs to make his way to Pyrenees Rescue of Western NC, a private Great Pyrenees rescue across the country.
Two dedicated volunteers will be personally transporting him, which means the costs of travel - rental van, gas, and flights back to California - will be out of their own pockets. Anything toward their expenses will help!
Presley came to Ventura County Animal Services (VCAS) as an owner surrender back in February. He has won the hearts of many volunteers, but, as a Great Pyrenees, he's not quick to return the favor. To his chosen few, he's a big fluffy teddy bear that wants all the pets, cuddles, and treats they'll give him. And in return, he will protect them fearlessly. As a weary Great Pyr, one can imagine that moving too fast with him, before he's comfortable and ready, can result in misunderstandings; his whispers can be misinterpreted as shouts due to his size. Previously arranged transport to NC didn't work out, and poor Presley has remained at VCAS with dwindling options.
The search for local rescues that wouldn't require cross country transport have been explored to no success - the closest one 3 hours away unfortunately didn't work out. Private adoptions for not just a livestock guardian breed, but one that is exceptionally selective, will be a challenge and is still not a guarantee that he will live his best, most fulfilled life. His best shot at that is with Pyrenees Rescue of Western NC, where he can get the help and time he needs with people who understand him as a breed and as an individual. Please help give him that chance!
Donations of any size will help us get Presley to the Pyrenees Rescue of Western NC, and get our amazing volunteers safely home. If you cannot donate at this time, please consider sharing this go fund me. Team Presley thanks you!
