Presidio Podcast

Presidio: a True-Crime, Historical Podcast in final stages of development

After three years of intensive research and interviews, it's now time to tell the story of the Marfa Sheriff,  a self-proclaimed anti-drug warrior, who ended up serving 26 years for smuggling a ton of cocaine across the border. Was Presidio County Sheriff Rick Thompson really “La Puerta,” the door through West Texas for Mexican cocaine in the 1980s, or did a rogue accomplice and threats from brutal cartels lead him to self-destruction?

Presidio (likely 10 episodes) will explore the amazing story, including the infamous exploits of his the sheriff's friend--Robert Chambers--as he worked his way up to be both an informant for the authorities and a kingpin for the Mexican cartels. We’ll hear about their motivations, allegations cast against them, and how their corruption dealt a blow to the notion of right and wrong for the residents of small-town Marfa and the lawmen who called Thompson their friend.

Although we are in talks with production companies and platforms, we need your help now! We are seeking funds for production, travel, additional documents, and marketing to get a quality podcast to listeners around the world. See donation perks below.

While most of the ground work is done, including numerous recorded interviews, much more still is needed for the final production. Here's your opportunity to be involved in the story as it develops throughout the broadcasts. ... and support independent, investigative journalism.
