Hi friends, family, peers, and strangers!

My name is Owen Stone, I'm a senior pursuing a degree in Film & Media Studies at Emory University, and for the past few months I've been working hard on my short film, President's Day.

Let's set the clocks back to September of 2023 in the beautiful mountain town of Telluride, during the 50th annual film festival. The pure artistic energy I experienced walking along streets chock-full of film makers and lovers alike, and watching films like Perfect Days (2023), The Music Room (1958), and My Grandmother (1929), filled me with inspiration and encouragement. That creative fervor would eventually be condensed and refined into President's Day, a project which aims to explore the nuances of industrialized society's effects on the soul.

The film follows Kieran, a young curmudgeon burdened by the overwhelming demands of living in the modern world, who gets locked out of his apartment while doing his laundry. Due to a coincidental series of misfortunes, what should be a simple trip to the apartment office becomes a full-on journey, in more ways than one. The film will be written, directed, and edited by me, with a cast and crew made up almost entirely of Emory students and faculty who have been working very hard to bring my creative vision to life.

The film is currently in production, and I need YOUR help to see it through! By donating to this GoFundMe, you are supporting the film by helping to pay for the various and substantial costs of production, such as prop, costume, and set design, equipment, transportation, craft services, editing fees, festival submissions, and more. While my passion and ambition towards this film are endless, my own funds (from which the film is currently drawing) are not.
