Supporting the #ForTheGame movement

===UPDATED STORY | ORIGINAL STORY BELOW===

Now that the auction is done, we are focusing our efforts fully on securing as much funds as possible for the former players of the CWHLPA. We tried to secure as many assets as we could, but unfortunately the unpredictable nature of an auction foiled our plans.

However, the players are the lifeblood. And they deserve our support. With Thursday's announcement the #ForTheGame movement is the target now.

We have been in discussions with the CWHLPA throughout this process, and we will continue to be.

Thank you all so much for your support. We really tried to secure items. If you are not comfortable with this change in mission, please contact us and we can discuss possibilities for a refund.

Here is a recap on our spending in the auction:

We won the Caroline Ouellette 2008-09 jersey for $750. This jersey is not only historically significant (she is the leading scorer in CWHL history and this was her first season in the league but it is also the year of the first Clarkson Cup) but it was requested specifically by the Canadiennes organization.

(We had asked all CWHL General Managers and the CWHLPA if there were any items they wanted us to try and procure. Montreal was the only team to make a request)

The MVP trophy went up to $6,200. If you add up what we had at the time of the auction (just $6,760) you can see that we were over the amount raised, without taking into account the 2.9% in fees that Go Fund Me charges. This also doesn't take into account the amount of money needed to repurpose the trophy going forward.

We did have some leeway due to offline donations, but we simply could not go higher than we did.

=== ORIGINAL STORY ===
Around one month ago the Canadian Women's Hockey League announced it would be folding, and has placed many articles up for sale in an effort to liquidate its assets. We're curating a collection with a semi-specific objective in mind and a way to preserve the history and share it with the public. The goal is to allow these items with history to be preserved by people who can share the significance of them.

The ultimate goal would be to have a public place to look at these items and where people can see and learn about the history of women's hockey.

The money raised will have an immediate short-term goal to purchase items. Any money that is raised that is not used will be made public for full transparency and will be donated directly to CWHL player-run initiatives.

Depending on the money raised, trophies won't necessarily be the priority. Volume and deliberately chosen items (for historic purposes) will be the priority.

For full transparency: Jared Book, one of the campaign creators, will be withdrawing the money. Full details of how it is being allocated will be provided as expenses occur.
