You can make a difference by donating today to the Wolf River Cemetery Association.
Located in Pall Mall, Tennessee, Wolf River Cemetery is the largest rural cemetery in Fentress County, with over 600 graves spanning generations of families, veterans, and local residents. It is also the final resting place of Sergeant Alvin C. York, America’s most decorated hero of World War I. His legacy brings hundreds of visitors each year to this quiet hillside cemetery, where history, honor, and community are deeply rooted in the soil.
The cemetery is maintained by the Wolf River Cemetery Association, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our mission is to preserve the dignity and beauty of these sacred grounds through regular mowing, seasonal maintenance, landscaping, and general upkeep. As one of the oldest and most historically significant rural cemeteries in Tennessee, the responsibility is both a great honor and an ongoing financial challenge.
Private donations are our only source of funding, and annual maintenance costs exceed $9,000. For 2025, we are setting a goal of $9,000 to ensure the grounds are properly cared for year-round, without having to rely on the small collection box at the site. 100% of donations go directly toward grounds expenses—no overhead, no salaries—just dedicated care for this important landmark.
Thank You
To everyone who has donated, shared our mission, or encouraged others to contribute—thank you. Your generosity helps ensure that Wolf River Cemetery remains a place of peace, remembrance, and historical reflection. A special thank-you to those who helped spread the word about our GoFundMe campaign; your support is helping to preserve not just a cemetery, but a part of Tennessee and American history.
