Calling All Descendants of Mary Ann Price – Help Us Restore Her Grave
We are reaching out to all family members and descendants of Mary Ann Price, a strong, pioneering woman whose life and legacy live on in all of us.
Mary Ann was born on 14 July 1839 in Penrith, married William Price in 1862 at St Nicholas’ Church, and moved to Quirindi in 1874, where they raised a large family. She passed away on 24 July 1935 at the incredible age of 99, and was laid to rest in the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Quirindi.
At the time of her passing, she had 13 children, 53 grandchildren, and 63 great-grandchildren. Today, there are hundreds of us, and together we are her legacy.
Why We're Raising Funds
On a recent trip to Quirindi, I found that Mary Ann’s grave is in a serious state of disrepair. The concrete ledger is badly cracked and collapsing, leaving the site exposed and vulnerable.
We’ve been given two options to restore it:
- $1,200 for a terrazzo replacement (similar to the original, but prone to future breakage)
- $2,500 for a granite replacement – much stronger, longer lasting, and more respectful of her memory
We’re hoping to go with the granite option to ensure her grave is preserved for generations to come.
How You Can Help
We are asking for contributions from any and all descendants of Mary Ann Price. With so many of us, even small donations will quickly add up. Every dollar brings us closer to restoring her final resting place.
Your support will:
- Fund the replacement of the damaged ledger
- Protect and honour the grave site
- Ensure our children, grandchildren and beyond can visit her and feel proud
Please also share this page with your branch of the family. Whether you’re directly descended from one of her 13 children or married into the line, we welcome everyone who wants to help preserve her legacy.
Let’s come together as a family and give Mary Ann the dignity and care she deserves.
Thank you,
Clare Tokareff (nee Woodfield)
