Preserving Mount Vernon for Future Generations
Tax deductible
Hi friends! For my birthday this year (Jan 6th), I am raising money for the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association (MVLA), one of the oldest historic preservation organizations in the United States. Founded in 1853 by Ann Pamela Cunningham of South Carolina (woohoo!), this pioneering group and its board members have been steadfast stewards of George Washington's Mount Vernon, preserving his home and legacy for future generations. Without the support and care of the MVLA, there is a high likelihood that Mount Vernon may never have survived the 19th century in tact.
As an American history enthusiast, I have visited Mount Vernon numerous times with friends and family and am always profoundly moved by my experiences there. Mount Vernon honors the legacy of George Washington and his family, as well as the legacy of hundreds of enslaved individuals (many of whom we can now learn about by name) who lived and worked there.
By supporting Mount Vernon, we help preserve this vital historical site where we can reflect on our shared past and inspire future generations to learn, grow, and engage with American history.
Additionally, with America's 250th anniversary fast approaching on July 4, 2026, I am excited to support Mount Vernon's legacy and future.
My birthday is January 6th, and my goal is to raise $500 by Friday, January 10th.
If you’re able to contribute — even just $5 — it would mean so much to me. Thank you in advance for your kindness and for joining me in supporting the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association and the future of George Washington's Mount Vernon!
