As many know, I was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer at the beginning of November. I had a foot of my colon removed, a port placement surgery, and will now be undergoing a procedure to freeze my eggs. I will start chemotherapy on January 7th and with that chemotherapy comes other medications for my treatment. One of the medications involved in my treatment can cause infertility in women. This drug’s main job is to stop cells from growing and killing them in the process. Which is great for the cancer cells but really bad for my reproductive system. I have the opportunity to freeze my eggs and undergo an egg retrieval before I start chemotherapy. This gives me the chance to have children of my own in the future. If I don’t do the egg retrieval now I may not have the opportunity to have children naturally and will not have the chance for egg retrieval in the future once the chemo damages these cells (eggs). The price for this procedure has to be paid up front ($4500) as well as out of pocket expenses for the medications which are also thousands of dollars. If you’re willing to donate I’d be eternally grateful. Please don’t feel like you have to as I know it’s the holidays, I’m so thankful for the love, prayers and support I’ve had from everyone and that will always be enough❤️
