Addressing housing affordability is a growing problem world-wide and is magnified in resort communities such as Telluride, accommodating new, infill compatible with historic districts. Throughout the nation, local preservation programs are seeking ways to facilitate affordable housing while upholding other policies that will assure these important parts of our heritage continue to exist. Telluride has the opportunity to demonstrate to the nation that preserving historic districts and providing affordable housing can be mutually achievable, rather than signaling that one must be exchanged for the other. Concerning the Voodoo Affordable Housing project, we are raising money to hire the experts that can help us keep the integrity of our Historic Landmark status intact, while designing a building that follows the Land Use Codes and is appropriate for the Pacific and Willow Street historically designated neighborhood. Please donate whatever you can to help facilitate this endeavor. You can donate anonymously. Be sure to choose that option.
