Preserve the Cornwallville 90 Acres
Cornwallville Residents for Rural Preservation (CRRP) is a community-led organization whose mission is to show the negative impact that Bosque, a proposed 90-acre subdivision, would bring to the hamlet's natural habitat, road safety, homeowner privacy, current low degree of noise/light pollution, and historic character of the hamlet.
The Bosque development proposal, submitted in November 2020, intends to subdivide the largest undeveloped swath of land (appx 95 acres) in the central area of the hamlet. The Bosque proposal includes the construction of a private road running through the property, 12 new houses, and a barn/residence/farm operation to be used exclusively and solely by the owners of the new homes (not a Cornwallville-wide community farmstead as some have mistakenly understood it to be).
A crucial date is approaching - 08/31/21. The Town Board will conduct a comprehensive review (SEQR) of the devastating Bosque project. On the basis of the review, the Town Board will decide whether to require Bosque to provide a thorough Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) or to allow Bosque to proceed with radically altering a pristine forest and destroying wildlife habitats in order to build a suburban subdivision in the middle of our rural community.
At this critical stage, we need legal counsel and environmental expertise in order to ensure that the majority of the community is represented during the review process. Legal and consulting fees are expected to run more than $25,000 - any amount you can contribute will help us preserve the natural and historic beauty of our hamlet. We can't do this without financial resources – we can’t do this without YOU!
