Help Preserve Sewataro

Our goal is to preserve the Sewataro Property forever as a place for summer camp, recreation, education, nature, and community—not for development.

For generations, the Sewataro Property has offered families, children, and residents opportunities to explore nature, build lifelong friendships, and enjoy the outdoors. We partner with the current Camp Operator to generate revenue for Sudbury while preserving the land's beauty. We have a unique opportunity to ensure this special place remains a community asset for generations to come.

We're raising funds to support the legal, planning, marketing, and preservation efforts needed to permanently protect the property for public use. Our initial goal is $8,000.

Why This Matters
The Sewataro Property is one of Sudbury's largest remaining recreational landscapes. Once lost to private development, it can never be replaced.

Our vision is simple: we support permanently preserving the Sewataro Property for:
• Summer camp
• Public recreation
• Educational programming
• Hiking and walking trails
• Nature programs
• Community events
• Passive open space
• Environmental stewardship

We oppose its use for:
• Residential development
• Commercial development
• Industrial development
• Mixed-use development
• Other private development inconsistent with public recreation and open space

How Donations Will Be Used
Our initial tranche goal is to raise $8,000. A second tranche may be needed based on the twists and turns this effort takes. These dollars are intended to fund:
• Legal review and drafting
• Preservation planning
• Marketing efforts and community outreach
• Public education
• Other lawful preservation efforts

We will provide full transparency regarding the use of these funds. If additional funds are needed, we may ask again. Any remaining proceeds will be directed as agreed or refunded pro rata, consistent with applicable law and donor intent.

Please Share Our Campaign
You can make a tremendous difference by sharing this campaign with friends, neighbors, former campers, alumni, parents, and anyone who believes that once open space is lost, it is gone forever.

Together, we can help ensure the Sewataro Property remains a place for recreation, education, camping, nature, and community—not development—for generations to come.

Thank you for helping to preserve Sudbury's outdoor legacy.
