Preserve Polish Heritage at Saints Cyril and Methodius

The Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Boonton, New Jersey was built in the year 1907 by Slovak immigrants who wished to have a Roman Catholic parish of their own. The hard working men and women wanted to keep the tradition of their patron saints by hearing the Mass prayed in their native language while also keeping a vibrant cultural community together.

Today, Saints Cyril and Methodius Church is still home to families who have just arrived from Poland, as well as Polish-American families who strive to preserve their language and customs for future generations. As the only Polish parish in Morris county, we are proud to keep the tradition of our forefathers.

As strong as our small community is, the fact remains that our beloved church and adjacent school are 117 years old and in much need of repair. The school building, which provides a large portion of our monthly income through leasing, needs a new roof, new kitchen appliances, updated classrooms, and restrooms. Prudence dictates that investing in the renovations will help secure the best qualified tenant.

So as you can see, in order to keep our church open, we are in great need of financial assistance. Though our families are very generous, as one of the smaller parishes in the Diocese of Paterson, it would take a very long time for us to raise the funds necessary for the scale of these renovations.

For this reason, we are appealing to the broader social community of our Saints Cyril and Methodius Church. We must rely on the kindness and generosity of donors to help us in this time of need. I ask that you prayerfully consider making a donation to help us with our renovations so that we may continue to serve our parishioners and this beautiful neighborhood in Boonton.
