The urgent need for funds stems from a critical gap in scientific documentation of Nepal's ancient cannabis landraces. These heirloom strains, preserved for centuries in remote Himalayan communities, face increasing threats from hybridization and environmental changes—yet their unique cannabinoid and terpene profiles remain largely unstudied with modern tools.

We're launching Nepal's first chromatography lab to change that. This equipment will allow precise, evidence-based analysis of cannabinoids (like THC, CBD, CBG) and terpenes in these pure genetics, revealing their distinctive characteristics and potential wellness benefits. The resulting data will empower education, research, and advocacy for sustainable preservation. It will support legal reforms to enable safe medical access for patients worldwide—particularly those with serious conditions like HIV, where cannabinoids have shown promise in alleviating symptoms such as chronic pain, inflammation, appetite loss, nausea, and immune-related distress, improving quality of life through natural, traditional remedies.

Beyond science, this work paves the way for recognizing and establishing traditional Nepali cannabis farms as protected heritage sites—similar to California's appellation systems or Appalachian designations—honoring cultural legacies, protecting traditional uses for fiber, seeds, charas, and medicine, and ensuring these multipurpose plants endure for future generations.
