Mount Pleasant African Methodist Episcopal Church has stood for more than a century as a symbol of faith, family, and perseverance in the Washington, Georgia community. Founded over 100 years ago, the church once served as a spiritual home for generations of worshippers who gathered for prayer, fellowship, and service.
Today, although no active congregation remains due to the passing of most longtime members, Mount Pleasant AME continues to hold deep historical and emotional significance. The church cemetery, where many of those faithful members now rest, requires ongoing care and maintenance. Funds are being sought to preserve the grounds in honor of their legacy and to ensure that this sacred space remains a respectful and well-kept memorial for future generations.
