Preserve Laurel Glen's Legacy: Urgent Repairs

Don protégé
The Laurel Glen Cemetery Association of 1894 in Cuttinsville, VT, oversees the upkeep of the beautiful home (1882) and mausoleum (1880) of John P. Bowman. Bowman, who made his fortune in leather tanning, brought the earthly remains of his beloved family to Cuttingsville after they had predeceased him. A broken man, he built an incredible monument to his love for them; some 140 years later, it still captures the imagination of visitors. The Association needs to repair the original stone wall that runs along the front of the cemetery facing Route 103. Built in the 1880-90s, it collapsed after heavy rains last year. Repairs and stabilizing other parts of the wall will cost in excess of $100,000. In addition, the furnace stopped working in the middle of winter and needed to be replaced before temperature-related damage happened to the mansion's interior.
Our mission is to preserve and share the historical, architectural, and cultural legacy of John P. Bowman and Laurel Glen through community engagement, educational events, and volunteer opportunities that foster a lasting appreciation for this heritage and ensure its public benefit for generations to come. We are a 501c3 not-for-profit organization; all donations are tax-deductible as no goods or services are received in exchange.
We invite you to join our corps of volunteers who clean, garden, make small repairs, decorate, lead tours, act as docents, and more. Reach out to us at [adresse courriel retirée] or through our Facebook page.
