Preserve Julie Christensen's Musical Legacy

Hey friends and fans of Julie Christensen!

You know her from LA punk rock with Divine Horsemen and the Flesh Eaters, or from her days touring with Leonard Cohen, or her long and fruitful solo career, or on one of a billion other stages. She is the Zelig, the six-degrees-of-Kevin-Bacon of rock and roll.

To quote the great Chuck Prophet, "Julie Christensen has been there and back and got the t-shirt." I think she's so swell I wrote a song about her .

For yeaaaars folks have been telling her "you should write a book!" Well, I'm happy to say that some kind of memoir is in the works. We're doing interviews, just to get the stories out. It might be a book, it might be a documentary, it might be...who knows? Something.

Julie has boxes and boxes of memorabilia -- recordings of combos and bands she's been in with all kinds of amazing people, one-of-a-kind flyers from the LA punk scene in the 80s, souvenirs from the European tours with Leonard Cohen. Her archives tell a story of American music that is burning to be told.

So why the Go Fund Me? Because this stuff needs to be digitized. (As a musician who lost her music studio in the Thomas Fire, I am painfully aware how important it is to preserve your career memorabilia.) And not just natural disasters, but time can wreak havoc on recorded music. With old cassette tapes, you really get one shot to transfer them to digital, because the tapes literally disintegrate as they go through the tape machine.

So this is where you come in, if you are so inclined! Please pitch in to hire a professional to archive all this delicate priceless material so it's not lost forever. No matter what form Julie's story will take, preserving her archives is Job One.
