A Fighting Fund To Save Gnarabup

People who love Gnarabup have been fighting for more than 33 years to protect the strip of coastal heath between Gnarabup settlement and Gnarabup headland and beach from development. And now it seems we are in the last months of the fight.

Since the current proposal to build a housing estate and resort on the land was announced in June 2020, the Preserve Gnarabup campaign has made good progress, successfully referring the development to the EPA for assessment under State environmental law, and with many thousands of people and community groups making submissions to the assessment of the development under the State environmental law and planning law, and Federal environmental law.

Surfrider Foundation Australia’s South West Branch set up this crowd funding campaign a couple of years ago and the money raised to date has been used at critical times to support the Preserve Gnarabup campaign to get support from legal and planning professionals. While many of local experts have voluntarily put in countless hours of work, having input from paid legal and planning professionals at crucial times in the assessments is critical.

Now we are getting ready for the final steps in each of these assessment processes and we really need funds to bring this fight for Gnarabup home. We hope you can help with this by making a donation. All donations will be collected by Surfrider Foundation Australia and distributed to the South West Branch.

All funds raised are being carefully used to pay for expert professional support and other campaign costs. When we get to the end of this campaign, with a decision made on the development of the land between Gnarabup settlement and the headland and beach, any remaining funds will be used by Surfrider Foundation Australia South West Branch for future work to defend our environment.
