We are raising money to build a Syntropic Food Forest and Education Centre on this beautiful property in Northern NSW, Australia.
We have been working intensely on planning the establishment of an Educational Centre for Regeneration & Resilience, right here on this property over the past few months. This has come as a direct response to not only the impact of COVID19, but also the recent droughts, bush fires and floods.
Our vision is to create a place of learning about human and planetary regeneration, building resilience and sustainable living practices. A place where current and future generations can develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to adapt to the changes brought on by the onslaught of climate and health crises.
It is important to us that such a space not be privately owned by individuals but held in a trust or entity which will safeguard its concept and values in perpetuity and we are committed to pursuing the relevant legal avenues in this regard.
More about the Centre for Resilience and Regeneration:
In partnership with Syntropic Farm Co, the Centre will be a beautiful model of Syntropic Agriculture, and host a multitude of educational workshops. It is an incredibly simple but potent method of regenerative farming, which will create food sovereignty and resilience for communities in these rapidly changing times.
Syntropic Agriculture is a simple method of farming that can produce a huge variety of food in large quantities on varying sizes of land plots, making it available to most people in both urban and rural areas. In addition, this method is known to:
- improve soil conditions
- increase biodiversity
- sequester carbon
- improve water retention
- continue to diversify ongoing food supply.
With guidance from Syntropic Farms Co, absolutely no background in agriculture, and in less than a year, we have been been able to cultivate a substantial area incorporating over 40 different types of fruit and veggies which will become a future food forest - FOREVER! This can be done in backyards and acreages anywhere.
By extending our current food forest over the entire 6 acres while teaching others the method, we will not only increase community resilience through ongoing local food supply, but also provide a model that can be duplicated in any shire, and participated in directly through regular courses and workshops.
We will also develop a series of online training programmes to tackle the issues of accessibility due to unforeseen future events in the scale of COVID19. Other benefits will include improved social interactions, fostering community, providing space for people to gather, learn, discuss and share.
