My dad is a phenomenal lifetime musician. He also has Alzheimer's.

My name is Wonder. I'm a musician and music producer in Phoenix, AZ. My dad, Dondi Wood, was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's disease in 2019. He's smart as a whip and is doing everything he possibly can to slow the progression of the disease. Throughout all of it, despite the struggles of living with this as well as other disabilities, he remains gracious, kind, and gentle. My dad is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet.

A year ago, we set out to start a music project together, to preserve his musicianship for all time in spite of the disease. I had to put the project on hold because I am a full-time creative and I couldn't afford to take time away from my paid client projects, as important as this project with my dad is to me. Without my intending to, a whole year has gone by. I'm a carpe diem, live in the moment, ignore the future kind of person, but I am hyper aware that I do not have the luxury of not preparing for the inevitable future when my dad is racing against time.

This project needs to happen sooner than later. In order for that to happen, everyone involved needs to have some financial security as we're working through this process. My phenomenal drummer, Alex Lee, and my amazing cellist, Therese Cudmore, are on board to contribute their gifts to the project. Between the four of us, I have set a budget of $6500. I hope to create seven fully produced original songs. The budget will go into time spent writing the songs, recording them in my home studio, and making sure my session musicians are well taken care of.

After polling friends and family who showed interest in supporting the cause, the consensus was that we should start a GoFundMe for this project. I plan to spend August fundraising for this and breaking ground on writing the songs with my dad, and beginning recording in earnest in September. Your support makes this music project possible.
