I am currently living in Pristina, Kosovo and have been working in the area for the past year. A group of my colleagues recently had the opportunity to visit the Prenk Jakova School of Music, located in downtown Pristina, where they were blown away by the talent of these students; but they need help. The school teaches ages 7 - 18 years old in primarily classic style music, both instrumental and opera. Currently the school is housed in an old medical facility – they do not have their own building. The goal of the school is to teach music to the youth of Kosovo, discover young talent, bring together multiethnic youth of Kosovo to focus on a common goal of music exploration, and give back to the Kosovo community more culturally aware graduates who contribute to a civil, whole and peaceful Kosovo.
My team is working to raise and donate $6k for the school in order to assist them with purchasing a baby grand piano and new instruments. A few of the students are fortunate enough to afford their own instruments, but most are not and a lack of finances should not prevent these kids from being able to share their talents with the rest of Kosovo and the rest of the world. Please help us spread the word and donate money to further enrich the lives of these kids and their communities!
