Pre-medical Internship in Kenya
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Lilli Bower, and I am a pre-med student with a strong interest in obstetrics and gynecology in the context of global public health. Since taking a class at my college on the gendered histories of sickness and health in Africa, I have become interested in visiting Kenya to learn more about how healthcare is practiced there. After exploring different programs, I was very excited to find out I had been offered an internship with International Medical Aid (IMA), a not-for-profit organization that provides medical internships abroad for students. I plan on spending most of January 2023 interning at a hospital in Mombasa, Kenya, through IMA. While there, I will shadow doctors of different specialties and participate in public health community outreaches. This will allow me to experience and learn about healthcare firsthand in a new country, even as an undergraduate. I hope to go with an open mind and open heart and leave having learned things that will impact my future career in the medical field.
The funds I raise will be used to cover the cost of this internship: airfare, housing, food, transportation, hospital fees, and supporting IMA's global humanitarian initiatives as a not-for-profit.
