Help Vicki Battle Leukemia While Pregnant

Hello! My name is Tina and I hope this story finds you well. In May of 2020, my son married the love of his life, Vicki. She is funny, loving, kind, and so much more than I ever thought I could want for a daughter-in-law. Vicki has a daughter named Libby and always said she didn’t want any more children. Well, I guess true love found a way! A few months into their marriage, this beautiful couple decided to try for a baby! Oh what a blessing that was for this grandmothers heart!! Now Vicki is pregnant and early last week she was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia, a rare blood-cell cancer. We were all devastated, crushed, beyond words when we heard the news. On Wednesday, her sister, Courtney, spoke with a family friend and found renewed hope for all of us! This friend also has CML and was pregnant when she was diagnosed. She encouraged Courtney to reach out to her oncologist. With urgency, the oncologist suggested we get Vicki to the ER at MD Anderson immediately. So we did. Vicki also has a blood clotting disorder called Factor V which has been an issue with the treatment of her CML. Since being admitted to MD Anderson, Vicki has started chemotherapy treatments as well as apheresis of the blood. When she is released, we want Vicki to focus on her body healing, caring for her daughter Libby, and growing her sweet baby boy Anthony Andrew Stevens. I wrote all this to ask for your help. We only want what is best for Vicki and right now, the best thing she can do is rest. If you find it in your heart to donate, I thank you. From the deepest reaches of my soul, thank you.
