Help Amal, her baby and family overcome the genocide in Gaza

My Name is Amal Ashour. I live in Gaza.
Hello,
Before the war, I was a 27-year-old master’s student, studying French language and literature. I dreamed of completing my degree in Paris and building a future through education. But this war shattered everything — my dreams, my home, and my family’s life.

Now, I carry a burden no one should face. I am responsible not only for my own family, but also for my husband’s family — more than 15 people depending on me, and it’s far more than I can handle alone.
I’m a mother to a beautiful baby girl named Maryam. She was only 9 months old when the war began. It was the age when babies begin to play, to smile, to understand the world. But instead of joy, war fell upon us.

Our neighborhood was violently bombed. We fled in terror, narrowly escaping with our lives. Our home was turned to rubble. We had no place to go.
We found temporary shelter in the southern part of Gaza with kind friends who allowed us to live in a single room — 15 people crammed together for nearly three months. Out of sheer embarrassment and overcrowding, we left and set up a tent in Rafah in January 2024.

Since then, we’ve been living in a tent that isn’t even fit for one week, let alone months — with no safety, no electricity, no clean water, no comfort.
To make matters more difficult, I am four months pregnant. This stage of pregnancy requires proper medical care, vitamins, and healthy food — none of which I can access in this environment.
Despite all the fear and trauma, we stayed strong. But then, Israeli military planes dropped leaflets over Rafah, ordering evacuation again. We are banned from returning to our home in the north, which is now declared a “war zone.” We have nowhere left to go.
At this point, my husband and I had no choice but to turn to you — to the people of the world — and launch this campaign on GoFundMe.
Please, help us escape. Help us reach safety. Help us reach peace.
Your support can give my baby Maryam, my unborn child, and the rest of my family a chance to live — not in fear, not in ruins, but in dignity.
If you cannot donate, please share this campaign with your friends, family, and communities. Every voice, every act of kindness, makes a difference.
From the bottom of my heart — thank you.
