Hey y'all, we need help! Right before New Years our apartment flooded with sewage from an old DIY plumbing fix the landlord tried to make a few years ago. Not only did the sewage damage a lot of our belongings, but because the flooding was so fast moving the apartment was also deemed uninhabitable and we were forced to make a permanent emergency evacuation.
We've temporarily moved into a hotel and thankfully we have renters insurance which will help with some of our displacement costs, but it won't cover all of the losses we're facing in the wake of this emergency. For the past few weeks we've been paying for everything out of pocket while waiting for insurance reimbursed and as a result we've watched our savings account drained. At this point we're really just trying to survive day to day and it's been incredibly stressful and scary.
The plot thickens because I'm pregnant (yay!) and our baby is due in 12 weeks so we're frantically searching for a new place to live before he comes. But with the competitive rental market in the Seattle area our efforts to find a new place to live have proven to be extremely difficult.
Before the flood I worked from home doing dog daycare and boarding, but when the flood hit it also claimed my job and livelihood as well. Gabe and I were prepared for me to go on maternity leave in April, but losing my income stream several months earlier than planned on top of everything else is that we're facing is really taking its toll.
So here we are, asking for help and support. If you can contribute financially and feel inclined to do so it would mean so much to our family and every little bit helps right now. But even if you can't contribute financially, sharing our story and keeping us in your thoughts and prayers helps too!
We appreciate all of the support we've already received and we feel so loved and blessed for our community. Thank you so much for taking time to listen to our story! We love y'all and we'll keep you posted as things continue to unfold.
