Wager twins show up unexpectedly and with a bang!

Donation protected

Hello ALL! I have created this go fund me for my very great friends, Kate and Dave. This couple has had a pretty terrible year unfortunately. Kate and Dave have a 2.5 year old daughter Aurora and were excited to try for their second baby in 2020. Near the beginning of 2020 the Wagers became pregnant but sadly things didn't go as planned and Kate ended up having an ectopic pregnancy. Then in the summer of 2020 the Wagers we're pregnant once again. With super rare odds Kate had another ectopic pregnancy this time coming close to death and losing one of her ovaries. This then decreased the Wagers chance of becoming pregnant without medical intervention. To their surprise they became pregnant for a third time in 2020! With the past trauma they had endured Kate and Dave were hesitant to share the news and decided they would try to keep it a secret from most people until the baby was born. Soon into being pregnant Kate and Dave found out they were having twin girls (it seemed to be fate after loosing two babies earlier in the year and we're now pregnant with two!) Kate's pregnancy with twins went smooth until 31 weeks when it didn't.

On May 31st Kate was feeling little movement of baby B (Rhea) so she followed her motherly intuition and went to her local hospital in Orillia to be checked out. Quickly Kate and Dave were told that Rhea had a bowel blockage and that their family of 3 would become a family of 5 by midnight. Kate was then rushed by ambulance for an emergency C-section at Mt. Sinai. On May 31st 2021 the Wagers welcomed Oaklynn and Rhea born at 11:40pm and 11:41pm. Rhea was immediately taken across the street to Sick Kids Hospital where she underwent a 2.5hr surgery to remove a large portion of her intestines. Oaklynn remains at Mt. Sinai in the NICU receiving oxygen while Rhea is still at Sick Kids and had her breathing tube removed on Friday. Although they aren't completely out of the woods yet the girls are getting stronger and stronger everyday. Today Kate and Dave were finally able to hold Rhea for the first time!

The Wager family is unsure how long it will be until they can transfer their girls to a closer hospital but it will be at least 5 weeks. I am seeking donations to assist them in covering their hotel, parking passes at both hospitals, gas money to travel 2 hours home to see their 2.5 year old, food, bills etc. Any donation will be greatly appreciated during these highly stressful and emotional weeks. This was an unexpected turn of events and while everyone in the Wager family is doing the best they can, there is a financial burden with both parents needing to be with their girls.
