Predatory Loan Assistance for Immigrant Families

Donation protected
My name is Amy. I am moved to help a beautiful human being who I trust who has landed in a hole too big for him to get out of by himself. From a place of desperation and lack of education, he took a loan for $20k w an interest rate of 10% per month. He has a stable job but the $2k per month in interest alone is sinking him and he does not qualify for a better loan. The situation is common, not unique. It reflects an injustice in our system.

If this plan works and he returns the money, the fund will help another person. There is an educational requirement in our process. We don't want to give a person a fish, we want to teach them to fish. We will require that the person learns about predatory lending, how interest is calculated, total cost of a loan, etc. There will be a recommendation for giving the money back to the fund based on a reasonable fixed percentage of the amount of the gift. We will ask them to share their story confidentially to help educate us all.

Anyone who gives $1000 or more to the fund can nominate an individual for future assistance.

This is all based on gifts, trust, and connection to each other. The money will only be there to help the next person if the chain of trust is unbroken. Peace, love, and blessings to all.
