Help My Best Friend Precious Get the Care She Deserves

Hi, my name is Julissa, and I’m writing this with a heavy heart for someone who means the world to me, my best friend, Precious.

As some of you know Precious, her husband, and their daughter went through a series of unfortunate and very difficult events. To make things worse Precious's mother, who has advanced dementia, was in need of a lot care. Precious and her family decided to take sometime and head to the Philippines help her mother.

Precious is selfless, brave, and full of love. She has always been the person who shows up when you need help and she does it for everyone. No matter the time, no matter the cost. She carries people through their pain and never asks for anything in return.

But today, Precious is the one who needs us. She’s battling a serious heart condition that has changed nearly every part of her daily life. She now needs oxygen to breathe more comfortably and relies on a wheelchair to get around. She’s been hospitalized over and over again, including one terrifying ICU stay where she nearly lost her life.

Her doctors at the Philippine Heart Center in Manila have told her she needs Catheter ablation which costs about $17500 for the procedure alone.

Additionally, with her history of violent seizures under anesthesia she will also need to have a neurosurgical team during the operation.

Between that, the pre-op testing, the hospital stay, and the long recovery ahead, the total cost is expected to reach well over $20,000 USD depending on what she’ll need during and after surgery.

All their savings are gone. Every last bit has already been used for emergency visits, medications, transportation, and all the extra testing she’s needed because of her complex health issues. Precious and her husband have done absolutely everything they could on their own but they just can’t do this next part alone.

I’ve seen Precious give her heart to others over and over again. I’ve watched her hold friends through the worst moments of their lives, even while quietly carrying pain of her own. I’ve seen her share what little she had, celebrate others’ joy even when she had none, and lift up people who didn’t even know how much they needed her light.

Now it’s our turn to show up for her.
