Precious my cross beak hen vet help
Precious was a wee 6 week old chick I found at a petting zoo and convinced them to sell her to me. She had a crossed beak and wasn't being fed properly and was starving. I have had her for four years and she and my little budgie Cardy have become the best of friends. Precious is very gentle, she lives inside my house so she doesn't feel lonely outside and she is a sweet friend lap hen. I take her out with me in a carry bag and she just invites so much love around her from complete strangers. It's like a zen experience. I love her so much and she started to get some symptoms of illness which required so far 3500.00 in vet bills. She needed ultra sounds, injections to stop her making eggs and eventually an implant so she can grow strong. She is also being treated for infection and yeast. I take her to the best vet which requires almost 2 hours driving each way. She follows me around the house and is such an important part of my family. I never had children so my little birds are just like children to me. She has a cross beak too and it has finally moved to the degree that I must syringe feed her which she is very good at accepting and even looks at the bowl of syringes and wants to kick them around chicken style. The reason her eggs are being purposely stopped is she was making them with no shells, just skin and it showed she isn't feeling well and that her body needs the strength to heal. There are some dark places in the ultra sound that even the vet doesn't know what it is. But her medicine might be making the difference on the next check up.
So please, it has been a heavy toll recently mainly as I have had to stop working since I broke my hip in April. If you can help just a little I would be so terribly grateful. Cardy loves his sister too and that is the picture you see.
If the funds could come in by July 26, I can put it on to pay my visa bill to pay it. She will be needing another check or two at the vet hopefully all will be well.
Thank you so much for caring. This is a little creature that often gets the rough end of the stick, but Precious has only known love and kindness and you can see this clearly in her peaceful soul. If I could take some years off my own life just to give extra to her I would. She is only 4 and some hens can live to 20. Bless you all for taking time to see this cause. Kim
