Precious Life - Marilyn Taveira

Marilyn Martin Taveira is a gentle, loving soul who was born in the United States 28 years ago but went back to her parent’s native land, Brazil, as a young child. Last year she decided to return to the states to live with her father Mauricio and start a new life in America. Everyone who meets her appears to be magnetized by her presence. Marilyn eludes kindness and compassion, and has a constant glimmer in her deep dark eyes and a smile that could melt your heart.

She was progressing nicely with her assimilation by working, making friends, and planning to return to college for an advanced degree. She also fell in love and was excited to plan her future. Fate however decided to take her down a different path.

In late July Marilyn  began experiencing symptoms of fatigue, headache, and shortness of breath. She visited a doctor for bloodwork and was informed shortly after that she needed to go to the ER immediately for blood transfusions and further testing. On August 19th doctors diagnosed her with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. They informed her that she would have 2-3 years of chemotherapy ahead of her both in-patient and outpatient after the initial induction. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy in the Cancer Institute of NJ.
