Precious Hazel’s Eye Surgery

Donation protected
UPDATE: Princess Hazel is scheduled for surgery on March 1st and her post-op check-up is March 31st. I can’t wait for her to be able to go out and play again. She has been very sad and depressed because her brothers get to go out and play, but she doesn’t. She adjusting, but it’s frustrating for all of us. We are halfway to our goal with GoFundMe, Venmo, and cash donations, and we are so thankful for all of your support. I was blessed with a second job to help cover what won’t be covered, so my girl will be taken care of no matter what. Please keep sharing, we appreciate it!

Hi, this is Rhonda and Taylor and our precious little pups name is Hazel. She is our best little friend who is extremely loved and well taken care of. On January 4, 2023 there was an accident in our barn with another dog, which caused Hazel’s eyeball to pop out of the socket. We rushed her to the vet within 15 minutes and the team at Steamboat Vet Hospital were able to save her eye. Steamboat Vet Hospital has the most AMAZING team!!

On February 6th we took Hazel to the opthamologist to see what’s next for her recovery. She is permanently blind in her left eye. There is a high probability that this will happen again with the smallest bump to her body, due to her shallow orbits, so she needs to have surgery to prevent this from happening. She also has a condition known as macropalpebral fissure syndrome. These abnormalities can lead to scar tissue formation and pigmentation of the surface of the eye, which reduces vision.

In order for the best life possible for Hazel, this surgery is absolutely necessary. She just wants to (and we want her to) get back to her life and be able to spend her time hanging out in the barn with Taylor and playing with her brothers. She hasn’t been able to do that since January 4th. We will always do what is best and needed for our animals. With $15,000 in cancer treatment for our late dog, Zander, in 2021 that we are still paying for, another $6,000 so far for vet appointments and treatment for our two horses in the past several months, and $15,000 for a new roof that was put on last month, this expense came at a difficult time.

The initial opthamologist appointment was $335, surgery will be a minimum of $3,200, then there will be post-op appointments also.

Go fund me wasn’t even a thought, but many people have suggested it because they want to help. There are so many amazing people who know and love Hazel! Venmo (Rhonda-Skinner-Nutt or TaylorNutt16) or PayPal (paid2play2 or Taylor Nutt) is also acceptable. We’re just trying to offset as much of this unexpected expense as we can. Thank you so much to everyone who has been there for us, helped babysit Hazel when we had to go places, and who has sent good thoughts and prayers. You all mean SO MUCH to us!!❤️❤️
