my name's jasper, I'm 20, and i have fibromyalgia, GERD, and Barrett's esophagus, a precancerous condition caused by frequent and repeated heartburn. its risk of turning cancerous is entirely relative to the heartburn you continue to get. the mortality rate of esophageal cancer is 80%, and im needing frequent screenings and procedures to try and keep it from breaking bad, but without surgery for my GERD, I'm not sure anything will help.
I've had GERD (acid reflux) since I was about fourteen, and my mom never wanted to change the food she gave me. I developed Barrett's as a result. my mom's response to that was to tell me she still couldn't be bothered to change what she made, and I should start making dinner for the family instead. I couldn't do that with fibromyalgia, so I told her I'd just make food for me. she didn't like that, I guess. she's spent the last week since my diagnosis being angry, and today (5/28/2018) she slapped me and told me to get out of her house.
I have people to live with in west virginia, but I'm having to leave everything behind. here in maine I'd just finished my first semester of college (afforded through financial aid and a 50% tuition waiver, as my mom works there), and had a part time job on campus. I had doctors visits and therapy visits lined up, trying to fix and manage everything, things months in the making. that's all gone.
i can't even take pills anymore because of the condition of my throat, and i'm in pain near constantly. my job at the college was uncommonly undemanding (managing social media for people who don't quite understand it), and i was only able to take 2 college classes because of the state of my health. immediately after telling me to leave, my mom said i wouldn't be able to survive anywhere else.
without an income, i'm afraid of what's going to happen. i'll be somewhere more accommodating with food, but i still need help to be able to fix all of this. i wanted to only leave once i had, but it didn't work out like that.
(i am also bringing my cat with me. her name is Patch, and she needs special food, because she has an easily upset stomach.)
i desperately need this money for:
medications
medical visits
safe food and cooking
cat food
getting there (it's expensive to fly with a pet, turns out)
