On February 19th, 2025, my mother, Laura May, was going about her usual routine when everything changed in an instant. She was cleaning out her car at a local car wash, getting ready to head to work, when she suddenly collapsed. Thankfully, I was with her and got her to the hospital as quickly as possible.
Once in the emergency room, doctors ran tests and delivered devastating news—Laura had an enlarged heart and had suffered four strokes. She was immediately admitted so specialists could determine what had caused these strokes, as there was no clear explanation at the time.
But as more tests were done, we learned that the damage was far worse than we could have imagined. Laura is now facing an uphill battle with multiple health complications, including seizures, high blood pressure, constant dizziness, lightheadedness, severe migraines, and chronic pain.
Prior to this medical crisis, my mom was my rock. She spent the last year taking care of me while I was injured, all while juggling the responsibilities of daily life. She always put others first, but now, she can barely take care of herself. Even simple tasks like sweeping the floor or making dinner leave her feeling faint and on the verge of passing out. Now that she is classified as unable to work we are asking for donations from our community, friends , family, and associates to help us get through this difficult time until she gets better.
Laura now requires ongoing medical care, testing, and specialist visits to determine the full extent of her condition. Doctors believe she is experiencing seizures due to brain damage from the strokes, but the critical tests she needs to confirm this are extremely expensive. Since she does not have insurance, we are forced to pay out-of-pocket—on top of struggling with our everyday expenses, as she is no longer able to work or drive.
This is why we are asking for help. Any donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward Laura’s medical expenses, tests, treatments, and daily care needs. If you are unable to donate, we ask for your prayers and support as we navigate this difficult journey.
We truly appreciate every single person who takes the time to read, share, or contribute to #BattleForLaura. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
