My name is Milka Fong. I was born and raised in Haiti. The area hardest hit is my hometown. I have many family members and friends suffering and who are now living in the streets. People have lost their life, and homes and now they have nowhere to go, they are struggling to find necessities, many are hurt, and hospital are over filled while many seek medical attention. The majority of the population is panicking due to the hurricane season threats. Significant help is needed. This is devasting and unimaginable suffering to endure.
I am the president of Angels Voice Orphanage in Haiti. I have a team of volunteers that are going to assist our most devastated areas. 100% of all the donations will go directly to the hardest hit people. They are in need of food, shelter, medical attention and first aid supplies. My people, your neighbors and friends are crying out for our help. I am starting this Go Fund me page to get immediate funds to the worst hit area.
Angels Voice Orphanage was established after the earthquake of January 2010. This was my family way of giving back to our country. The orphanage was not damaged this time. I have lived in USA for many years, and I have never forgotten where I was from. My country, Haiti seems to be going through disaster after disaster and I’m trying to help. The smallest you and I can give will change many lives.
Tens of thousands of people left homeless by the earthquake and had to decide whether to brave the storm under flimsy tarpaulins or risk returning into buildings damaged by the tremor. At least 3,000 people are known to have died in the 7.2 magnitude earthquake; more than 9,000 were injured, and an unknown number are still missing. We know, difficulties are all around the world, problems seem to never end by mother nature and else. So let us remember the less fortunate who are living in the streets of Cayes, Jeremy, and Nippes of Haiti. We have a lady with seven children in the streets who needs our help right now and other families as well. Don’t wait until you have enough to give as some may say, give with what you have, and the Lord will pour His blessings upon you and your family. We are very fortunate to wake up in our own bed but let us remember those who are living in the street, in a tent, now they call home. We are facing many challenges in America we don’t want to ignore that but again let us remember the unfortunate.
The earthquake compounds problems facing the impoverished nation of Haiti, which is already reeling from a political crisis following the assassination of its president last month and the impact of the Covid 19.
Haiti has been hit by a series of natural disasters over the past years, including Hurricane Matthew in 2016. The deadliest was the 2010 earthquake which killed more than 200,000 people according to UN report and caused extensive damage to the country's infrastructure and economy. Let us continue to do good while we can. We are One People living in One planet Earth.
