Praying for John W Buchanan
John was on a flight to Kentucky and came back on Saturday July 25th. Shortly after that flight he started feeling bad and developed a fever. He tested positive for covid on July 30th and was admitted into the hospital on August 4th with the Delta variant. His husband tested negative on the 30th but tested positive by the 5th of August. He is currently in ICU in the flight for his life. August 29th update Vidals 139/73 , oxygen 85, he is going into kidney failure right now. Shortly after he was intubated, John’s blood pressure and heart rate began to drop. Doctors were able to stabilize his heart, but tests then revealed that his kidneys weren’t working well. Now, they are going try to reverse it with medication. In 24 hours, if that doesn’t work they will put him on dialysis. To maintain his airway, they might have to do a tracheotomy. Doctors still aren’t sure why this happens, but theorize the kidney damage may be caused by the virus itself, or by organ oxygen deprivation or inflammation created by the body’s own immune response. His eyes opened while I was playing music. It scared me, but they tell me he can hear. They ordered eye drops for his eyes. Thank you to the hundreds of friends for sending messages daily and videos. They really help us fill the void of silence at our visits. He loved Disney, and wants to live so he can plan a trip to Disney with all of his friends. He was a performer and a dancer for Disney in Orlando in his youth. We are in this together he is so loved, and blessed to have you all in his life!

We decide to start a GoFund me to give back to all the people helping John stay alive by providing meals and letters of appreciation – the unsung medical workers. Those that know John know he was passionate about education, so we are also going to start a scholarship fund in his name to give to someone in need. Thank you for the bottom of our hearts for believing in our mission and for praying for John.
