Praying for Addyson McDonald

On Saturday afternoon, February 24, 2018, Addyson McDonald and her papa were taking advantage of the spring like North Carolina weather when she was struck by an F350 while riding her bike in a local church parking lot. She was life flighted to UNC Chapel Hill and from there it was found her injuries were more severe than originally reported. She was taken straight back to surgery to repair multiple large scale lacerations she suffered from the waist down. She remained in surgery for several hours until her medical team decided to close up, stabilize her massive blood loss and allow her body to rest before going back in to clean and repair more of the damage. She remains ventilated in the PICU at this time.

Addyson is a bright, smart, beautiful and energetic 7 year old girl who’s smile can light up a room! She’s a proud Broadway Wildcat and attend’s First Grade at Broadway Elementary School. She loves school, her family, her friends and absolutely adores baseball and her brand new 8 week old baby brother! While she has been a trooper through it all thus far, she does have a long recovery ahead of her once her pelvis is stabilized with hardware as she will have to learn to walk again. Being born at just 23 weeks, she has already shown the world she is a born fighter and she can and will beat the odds! Her strength and determination in everything that she does is so admirable!
