Hi Everyone! My name is Rachel Jones, I am married to Christy's brother, Phillip. As many of you now know, Andy has been in the hospital since Thanksgiving day. ICU since November 27th. Throughout Andy's stay, the amount of pray and support has been overwhelming! We thank you for that! Unfortunately, as many of you know, expenses pile up. We are to the point where we are asking for financial relief for the Wahl family. As Christy is doing her best to juggle home, 4 kids, homeschooling, meal prepping for their dietary needs, and now the consistent commute between hospital and home. She is having an overwhelming amount of information thrown at her daily. Our goal here is to alleviate some of that stress by raising funds to cover the unforeseen future. Between household bills, fuel, groceries, and the hospital expenses yet to come. We are asking for your help.
If you know Andy on any level personally, you know he has the biggest servant heart! He is a doer, whether helping build a barn, work with the youth, or working on any number of vehicles, you will seldom here a "No". You also know he would hate asking for help! This is our opportunity to show him our love and appreciation! One of the last things he asked me to do, was to support Christy. There is no amount too small, and prayers to our Father God, who holds Andy in his hands, are appreciated and felt beyond words. Below is an update from Christy as of 12/9:
This is Christy, I want to thank everyone that has reached out, texted, prayed and offered their help. I have been texting some of you updates- but thought I'd use Facebook to make it easier to get the word out on how Andy is doing. Please feel free to share.
Thanksgiving day I took Andy to the ER because we figured he had Covid and was so dizzy. His blood oxygen was low so that he was admitted, he stayed two days on the regular floor but because his blood oxgyen could not be stabilized he was moved to ICU. Throughout his hospitalization he hadn't felt like he couldn't breathe or anything- the only symptom other than his blood O2 was fatigue. Very early this past Wednesday morning the hospital called and said Andy couldn't breathe, so they were intubating him. Right now he is on a vent and totally sedated. Yesterday his heart rate was way too high, his oxgyen kept dipping way too low, his blood pressure was too low and he had a fever. The most dangerous thing though was that his carbon dioxide levels were rising to a fatal level. The doctor did not give me any hope. I did not know if he would make it through the day. We sent out a call for everyone to join us in pleading for Andy to be healed and asking God for His mercy to be poured out over Andy. Because of the graveness of his situation the hospital overroad their policy of 1 hour, once a day visition and let me go in in the evening for what they call a "compassionate visit". On the way into the hospital the doctor called to tell me Andy's CO2 levels had fallen some, so he felt we had "bought some time" I know, however, that God answered our prayers and brought the levels down. I spent the time with him last night praying over him and begging God to heal my husband.
Andy had a quiet night last night, his numbers slowly improved and when I saw him this morning his heart rate is high, but much better. His fever is gone, and his blood oxygen levels were good. His blood pressure is still too low, and that has caused his kidneys to start failing. They put him on long term dialysis this afternoon. But one of the benefits of that- is that the dialysis will help remove the toxicity that the CO2 has caused in his body.
Throughout all of this, I can say without hesitation that God has been so good. God has given me wisdom to make decisions for Andy and helped me to stay standing when all I wanted to do was curl up and cry. He has given Andy's body the strength to keep fighting when the doctors gave up. He has remained faithful to us- even when we were so scared we couldn't see His hand holding us up.
I always share a verse with my updates, and today's verse is slightly modified
"Hear my cry, for we are very low. Rescue {Andy} from {Covid} for it is too strong for us. Bring {Andy} out of the prison {of Covid} so that we can thank you. The godly will crowd around us, for you are good to us." Psalm 142:6-7
Please pray that the dialysis will be helpful, and not harm. That the CO2 will continue to drop and Andy's blood pressure will regulate and that his body efficiently oxygenate his system. These are the things that need to happen for him to be taken off the vent. I can't wait to see his blue eyes again, and hear his voice. Please also pray for the people with Andy on the ICU floor. The patients, staff and visitors. It has been Andy and my prayer all along that his presence in the ICU will be a light to others- that God's presence on Andy will touch the people around him.
Thank you and we love you all
