This is River Selah Scott. He's perfect.
He also has Hirschprungs Disease...
He was born at home just 12 months after his little sister. He was perfect and absolutely beautiful.
We were a little suprised when we found out we were having another baby so soon.. but we also know that Jesus is in control and we were thankful!

After a few days of snuggles and love - we were a little worried. River hadnt pooped.. We knew something wasnt right.
We waited a few days and watched. Thats what we were told to do, praying "Please God - Let him poop."
He didnt.
Eventually we were told to go to Arkansas Childrens Hospital in Little Rock.. It was rough being in the emergency room with your brand new baby..
We prayed the whole way there.. our whole church was praying - believing for poop.
Seriously.. Our whole church was praying for River to poop.
And then he did!!! In the waiting room - a miracle.
They sent us home :)
We thought everything was good. No more worries about poop. We thought River was fine.
Candace (my wife) and I are pastors. We love Jesus and believe that He heals, and we believed we witnessed ANOTHER miracle.. And we had - we just didnt understand the fullness of it.
Little did we know that our faith was being tested.. at least not at the level that it was. But God is faithful.
After a few weeks at home there still hadnt been any substantial poops.
(Sorry about all the "poop stuff" but it is what it is.)
He got sick. Really sick.
Our doctor said we had to go back to Arkansas Childrens Hospital (ACH).
It got bad really quick. We almost lost him.

Ive never been so scared. Ive never felt so helpless..
"Please Jesus.. Whatever I need to do I'll do it. Please God.. Dont Let him die."
After the most horrible 24 hours of my life, River was stable, and we were told he probably had Hirschprungs Disease, and would need surgery.
We didnt know too much about Hirschprungs, but we knew our baby was alive. Praise the Lord..
We had a diagnosis. It started to make sense. We knew why he wasnt pooping. We knew why he got so sick.
And even after all the craziness at the hospital - and after a surgery where they basically cut out a foot of his bowels - he was still full of joy and so were we!!
We were thankful. We had answers. But his surgery in Little Rock didnt correct his condition. It was now manageable - but not corrected.
There arent very many doctors who specialize in the treatment of Hirschsprungs in children..
(Hirschprungs Disease is where the ganglian cells in the colon are not present or dont fuction right -hince no poop)
And the ones that do are pretty far away from us..
We've decided to see Dr. Marc A. Levitt at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio!!
Hes a world reknown surgeon known for working with HD (Hurschprungs Disease) kids!!
Dr. Marc A. Levitt at Nationwide Childrens Hospital
Ohio here we come!!
We are humbly asking for your help.
I work a full-time job, but it isnt enough to cover all our needs. Are bills have already started piling up due to everything, BUT WE ARE THANKFUL.
Here is where your donations will go:
- traveling expenses back and fourth to Ohio
- medical treatment (surgery, medication, etc.)
- lodging
- help with acquired bills
- food
We arent sure how much everything will cost, but we are greatful for whatever we receive.
We love you guys and are so thankful for your support and prayers.
